Shippey, 67, of 39 Dover St. Massena, will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 12:00 pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena. Friends and family may be received on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Gayle passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2010 in Hopewell, VA. Gayle is survived by her husband Richard J. Shippey. A cousin, Edna Gazda of Plantation, FL. second cousin Kathleen Gazda of Plantation, FL. Born June 8, 1942 in Catskills, NY the daughter of Francis and Ruth (Nealis) Hilfrank. She graduated from Potsdam State College with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary education in Saratoga Springs, and later in Walden, NY. She briefly taught at Twin Rivers Elementary School in Massena. She married Richard J. Shippey on August 10, 1968 in Cairo, NY. She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart Choir, and formerly a cantar and lectar at Sacred Heart Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund.
